Volunteering at Hillside First School
We warmly welcome volunteers and work experience students to Hillside First School. Volunteers play a valuable role in supporting our children and enriching school life, and volunteering can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. It may be an opportunity to give something back to the local community, develop new skills and experience, or gain practical experience as part of a course.
Volunteers may support a range of activities, including listening to children read, helping in the classroom, assisting with educational visits and supporting school events and fundraising activities.
How to apply
If you are interested in volunteering at Hillside First School, either regularly or occasionally, please contact the school office at office@hillsidefirstschool.org to express your interest.
You will be asked to complete a volunteer application form and provide two character references. You can download a paper copy of the application form below or complete the online application form here.
Appropriate safeguarding checks will be carried out in line with the nature of the volunteering role. Volunteers who regularly support children in school or accompany educational visits will be required to complete the appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
If a DBS check is required, you will be asked to bring your identification documents to school so that these can be verified. The school office will advise you which documents to provide.
Work experience students
If you are interested in completing a work experience placement at Hillside First School, please email the school office at office@hillsidefirstschool.org to discuss your requirements.
Next steps
Before beginning their volunteering role, volunteers will need to complete the relevant application, reference and safeguarding checks.
Once these checks have been completed, volunteers will meet with our Headteacher, Mr Graves, to discuss their role and ensure they understand the school's safeguarding responsibilities and expectations.
